Enzo Boglietti, Dolcetto Dlalba, Italy 2019. A superb, full-bodied Dolcetto, with vivid fruit, earthy and savory notes and ripe tannins that will allow it to age gracefully.
Hugl Weine Zweigelt, Austria, 2019. This variety was created in 1922, when Dr. Fritz Zweigelt crossed two grapes - Sankt Laurent and Blaufränkisch. The wine boasts a concentrated color, fruity and spicy aromas, and cherry flavors. Full-bodied, smooth and round, the wine is an ideal food companion.
Vega Escal Priorat, Spain 2017. The 2017 is a blend of equal parts merlot, garnacha and cabernet sauvignon, with small amounts of cariñena and syrah, aged in both French and American barrels. It showcases flavors of blue and black fruit rounded out with notes of fresh vanilla bean and toffee.
Chateau Ducasse, Bordeaux, France, 2021. This dry Bordeaux blanc is made from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc vines planted in complex soils of clay and limestone on fissured bedrock. The wine is bone-dry and bracing, bearing the classic Sauvignon Blanc notes of lime and grass. This blanc is astoundingly versatile at table. Exquisite with seafood, it is also perfect on its own.
Nittardi, ‘Ben’ Vermentino, Italy 2021. Fresh, succulent stonefruit with a citrus backbone. Often typified by warm tropical fruit and a touch of oak. Aromas of ripe citrus, nectarine and passionfruit drive this style... Vermentino is a white wine grape grown in various locations, and under various names, around the western Mediterranean.
Royal Tokaji Late Harvest, Hungary 2018. Pale gold colour with delicate citrus and spicy aromas. Light and refreshing on the palate with hints of white peach and honey. It has an excellent acid balance, a smooth, silky texture and a clean, long, crisp finish.
Eberle Vineyard Selection, Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles CA, 2020. Dark chocolate-covered cherries and black currant swirl together and complement the hints of sweet vanilla and juicy plum. This medium body, medium tannin wine has juicy acid that lingers on the palate after the first sip.
Valley of the Moon, Pinot Noir, Sonoma County CA, 2021. Aromas of tart cranberry, earthy garden tomato and toasted bread. Airfield Red Blend, Yakima Valley Washington, 2017. This Rhone-style blend displays complex and robust notes of cherry, tobacco, leather, white pepper, and oak spices. The palate is rich with silky tannins that linger on the palate and provide a long, lush, elegant finish.
Brendel Everbloom, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley CA, 2019. This wine was inspired by the floral Sauvignon Blancs made in France's Loire Valley. Sourced from organically-grown grapes in the Napa Valley and harvested earlier in the season, this wine is crisp, mineral-driven, and stays true to the storied soil it comes from.
Alexander Valley Vineyards, Mendocino County, CA, Gewurztraminer, 2022. The 2022 Gewürz has an enticing perfumed, floral nose and initial aromas of apple, grapefruit, citrus, rose, tropical lychee, stone fruit and pear. This release is a bit drier than prior vintages and has loads of minerality and bright flavors. In the glass there are spicy flavors of apple, pear, grapefruit, along with nice acid balance on the finish.
Harper Voit Surlie Pinot Blanc, Willamette Valley OR, 2021. It takes bright, intense fruit flavors of melon, yellow apples and green bananas, and puts a Burgundian spin on the mouthfeel with judicious acids and a touch of caramel. It's delicious, complex and should age nicely for another five to six years. This conveys creamy richness while seeming almost weightless.
